
We provide a number of trade technical training opportunities, including:
We provide powerline apprentice training at our two training centres, Angle Park and Davenport. Training includes powerline safety practices, various rescue techniques, underground distribution and cable terminating, Low Voltage and High Voltage distribution and switching, and transmission line maintenance.
Apprentices gain many useful qualifications and skills over the course of the training, including their Substation Access Licence, Work Zone Traffic Management knowledge, experience climbing and working at heights, knowledge of a wide range of powerline construction requirements and interpretation of technical drawings and material lists.
Graduates of the apprenticeship program are highly valued members of the ETSA Utilities workforce. For more information, see Apprenticeship Program.
Our Training Services department offers mobile plant equipment training to both ETSA Utilities customers and external customers. Training can cover equipment such as elevating work platforms, mobile cranes, forklifts, wood chippers, borers and more. We can also provide training in areas such as chainsaw operation, four-wheel driving, hydraulics and pneumatics and gas decanting. Training on other mobile plant equipment not listed above may be possible on request.
ETSA Utilities’ electrical training team based at Angle Park provides specialised substation secondary system and primary plant training for network and transmission construction and maintenance Trade Skill Workers and electrical apprentices.
We provide mandatory training in areas such as high voltage switching, substation access accreditation and working at heights. The electrical team also trains mechanics in all aspects of work associated with the electrical service connection to customers’ installations.
