Eligibility and selection process

Applicants need to meet the following criteria to be selected for the pre-employment program:

  • Not be in permanent employment
  • Not be a full-time student - although, if necessary, applicants are able to submit an application with school confirmation of their disengagement from school.
  • Committed to a full-time employment outcome
  • Successfully completed Year 11 or the TAFE SA pre-entry program, available through TAFE SA Port Augusta.

They may also be required to go through the following selection process:

  • An interview with a representative from the Pre-employment program
  • Applicants will be assessed and selected based on whether they meet the eligibility criteria and their interview performance
  • Applicants selected to undertake the program will be required to either purchase or provide their own protective clothing and equipment, including a long-sleeve shirt, pants, safety boots, safety glasses and ear protection, before the program commences.
